I stayed over Easter weekend, both in shared private room and bed in shared room. In general, great location and inexpensive, very friendly staff and nice welcome drink at downstairs bar Wilson’s Social. The flip side are, noise from live music and bar underneath the hostel. Also, common room, shared toilet and shower need more frequently clean and replenishing. Also, interestingly, they put mix genders in the same room.

Selina NQ1 Manchester was perfect. We stayed with a large group for the weekend and everything went so smoothly. Steven and all the staff at Selina we so helpful all the way through the booking process and during our stay. Perfect place to stay for a large group. Great location and everything was so clean!

I booked this hotel in the trendy Northern Quarter of Manchester with high expectations. Unfortunately, none of these expectations were met. Check in was good and the room came with a welcome drink in the bar/pub on the ground floor. The room however, was a massive disappointment. I didn't think it was in good condition, the bathroom wasn't well cleaned, it was so basic it didn't even have a TV. Worse of all, the water never got hot and so it was lukewarm showers. Not one for me and I won't be back.

Checked in and wen to my bed, someone had spelt it in and they moved me to another room where I was kept awake all night by a guy on his phone all through the night and going and out of the room, I complained and they said they would refund the night, I've been waiting now for over a month and half and non one seems to be bothered to answer my emails. Won't be staying again.

I stayed for a week and would probably have had a better experience sleeping in a tent underneath a bridge. 1. They put you in rooms with homeless people. Nothing against them but it is offensive putting a homeless person with someone who is paying good money. I leave the smells to your imagination. 2. There seems to be no underground basement nightclubs in Manchester. You can hear the base pumping throughout the night. Good luck getting a wink of sleep. 3. The room I was staying in was so tiny that more than 2 people will get hot very quickly. My side of the room was unbearably hot in Feb. 4. There are no cleaning products to clean the toilet after people leave it looking like a donkey reversed into it and took a massive dump. The dining table in the common area was filthy and had not been wiped for a few days. 5. I didn't hear a vacuum during my whole stay. Hoover the sofas in common areas, bedroom floors, behind the mattresses. 6. Mattresses are extremely uncomfortable. You can feel the springs lodged into your body after a few days. 7. Kitchen sponges not replaced. No staff around to help. 8. Staff are not trained in how to book. I wanted to extend my stay by a day due to a mistake on my airbnb dates. I was told to try again the next day. After 2 days of trying I simply gave up. Today's prices are not the same as 2 days ago so my airbnb bill went up unnecessarily. However, possibly worse of all, was the attitude of one staff member. 99% are friendly and helpful however one individual looked as if the joy was sucked out of her and she just doesn't want to be there. Being irritated towards me and spoken to like a child as well as talking over me which I found rude. The cleaning staff work hard but do not want to be there. I think since there are no hostels in the centre they can become indifferent to people saying due to having a monopoly. By all means stay for a day perhaps even two but you are better off paying a bit more and finding an airbnb/hotel with a better care for it's customer.
